Battle of the Bands 2024
– The Hottest new Event to give musical talent a spring board into the industry –
In Partnership with chart achieving UK record label Red Sun Records, their associated management Arm Palm Island Music and Award winning writer/producer Jim Lawton.
Hosted at the iconic Floral Hall Hornsea
Each year in addition to organizing and running the carnival, we try to think of new and exciting ways to engage with the community and support the future of the region.
We have always had strong links with local music talent, as an event we organize and promote a band stage which has always been free for all local and non-local bands to play on, showcasing their skills to the wider community, the stage has been home to some amazing home grown talent an proven and excellent springboard for these bands to secure local gigs and allow youngsters to follow their dreams. We have had some truly amazing talent grace our stage over the last 20 years and we want to be able to give them more.
This Event has been over a year in the making, and only really made a possibility from the relationship that the Carnival team have with chart achieving UK record label Red Sun Records, their associated management Arm Palm Island Music and Award winning writer/producer Jim Lawton from Electric Enemy
This relationship has paved the way for what will be the first Battle of the Bands in Hornsea, which will be held at the Iconic Floral Hall, with a truly life changing prize for the successful band.
But before we speak more about that lets look at some facts and figures
Did you know that there are 150,000 records a day released and the chances of a band ‘breaking’ through, achieving chart status, a fanbase following and therefore a business model that turns a profit are sadly less than a million to one.
The music industry is an ultra high risk business however, those that do make it see substantial and regular rewards.
Exposure is king and one undeniable record can and often does change everything for an artist.
We all know countless bands that have had a lifelong lucrative career from very often just one hit record but finding the award-winning person to write such a song is expensive and more or less impossible for a young unconnected artist to find.
Same story for finding and working with the right producer who can make that record into something very special to stand out from the noise.
Releasing music on various digital platforms is actually very accessible, however some platforms carry far more industry respect than others. Red Sun Records release all their music through the hugely respected distributor AWAL who are owned by Sony. This platform is not normally available to new artists and whilst anyone can apply, the truth is you cannot just simply get distributed by them unless you have a track record.
Jim Lawton is an ISC (International Songwriting Competition) and John Lennon award winning songwriter and producer, He currently writes for and with countless signed artists. He writes for Sony Music, Universal Records and is contracted around the world for his remarkable services.
Lisa Muscatt from Red Sun Records has secured for their acts global deals with Sony Music, Better Noise Records (NY), 6 figure merchandise advances, global publishing deals, supports on the biggest tour in the world 2018 (P!NK) and countless music placement deals including Netflix, Disney+, ESPN, HBO and every UK terrestrial TV channel.
